Duvets and pillows with goose down and feathers filling
UAB Merkys makes duvets and pillows with a filling of various proportions of goose or ducks feathers and down (options can be: up to 2% down and 98% feathers, 15% down and 85% feathers, 30% down and 70% fine feathers, 51% down and 49% fine feathers, 90% down and 10% fine feathers). Furthermore, UAB Merkys makes quilted duvets and duvets with „box construction“. Filling of duvets with „box construction“ is separated into equil proportions in „small boxes“. That makes the amount of the filling stay the same throughout the whole duvet.
Duvet and pillow casings are made with especially dense down-proof fabric from high quality 100% cotton. The price of the product depends on its size, filling composition, and weight. There are summer duvets (with a smaller filler weight) and winter duvets (with a bigger filler weight).
Feather and dawn mixtures for filling are prepared using special equipment according to complicated preparation technologies. Feathers and down are sorted, dusted, and washed in water at 45°C-50°C using products for washing and disinfection. Water is changed eight times in the process. Washed feathers and down are dried for 15 minutes at 105°C and dusted once more afterwards. This complicated process ensures that final mixtures are sterile and suitable for filling the products.
Duvets and pillows with wool filling, product from wool
Natural wool has been used for a long time. It is suitable for winter and summer as it is good at isolating warmth and keeping the air flowing. Wool can absorb a large amount of water vapor- up to 33% its own mass without making the moisture noticeable. Wool is great at making your sleep comfortable because of its unique properties.
Duvet filling is made of well cleaned, washed with alkali, disinfected (high temperature) and carded wool from New Zealand, England. For pilow filling wool is made into little balls to make the product softer, more elastic.
Products from wool are soft to the touch, has benefits for the skin, joints, can improve bloodflow, has other positive properties known for a long time. UAB Merkys makes a wide variety of these products- duvets (double or combined with other fabrics), blankets, pillows and other products. Prices of these products depends on the product‘s size, quality of the wool used, its weight (g/m²).
Recommended maintenance for most of the wool products includes dry cleaning and airing out, however, washable products are made as well- products with washable („Superwash“) wool filling. There are special treatment methods that can prevent wool from shrinking more than 3% after washing it. These products can be washed in a washing machine set to wash wool and using washing products for wool.
It is important to know that products with wool have a specific smell to them. If a person finds this smell to be too strong, we suggest to air out the product in a warm dry place.
Products with hollow conjugated siliconized polyester filling
Polyester fiber is a sintetic material used for filling duvets and pillows.
UAB Merkys uses hollow conjugated siliconized polyester for its products. Every little hairlike filament of this material has a hollow centre, that is why it lets the air in and out („breaths“) and absorbs moisture. These properties are found in natural fibers. Hairlike filaments of this fiber are covered with silicone. Silicone gives the fiber elasticity, slipperiness, softness.
To extend longevity of the pillows, pillows are often filled with balls made from this fiber. This filling makes pillows more elastic, softer, pillows get back to their original form quicker.
To make the pillows more solid, pillow casings can be quilted. These casings usually comes with zippers for easier maintenance.
Bed covers, and mini mattresses are made with puffy nonwoven fabric. Chemically it is the same material (PES) thermally formed into a puffy nonwoven fabric, thus more suitable for quilting fabrics for bed covers, mini mattresses, and so on.
Maintenance of products with polyester filling is one of the easiest and simplest. These products can be washed in a washing machine using the setting noted in the product‘s label.
